Join us as we celebrate Feast, our annual and signature event! Our theme, Living Into the Invitation, will guide us in worship and conversation.
New this year, we will be seated for lunch by geographic area to help foster connections. During the afternoon, we will invite folks to meet in affinity groups, an opportunity to explore the Feast theme in the context of our own various ministries.
We want to make sure you know that these fabulous folks will be bringing our message during worship:
- Valerie Carter Smith, Founder of MissioSpark
- Martha Kearse, Senior Pastor at Peakland Baptist Church, Lynchburg
Valerie is a Pastoral Counselor and a Life Coach specializing in counseling people in the areas of grief and trauma. Having cared for loved ones with chronic mental illness, she is a big advocate for caretakers’ mental well being, helping them establish daily practices to cope with the struggles of everyday life and to aid in the healing of their own deep seated wounds. Valerie has traveled, lived, and worked all around the world, and is knowledgeable of world religions and cultural variations. When not counseling, teaching, or preaching, she loves having coffee with her husband, taking walks, sitting by the river, or reading a good book.
Martha is a Virginia native, growing up in Crozet, Richmond and Lynchburg before attending the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, where she earned a BA in English and Education. She holds a Master of Arts in English Rhetoric and Writing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministryfrom Gardner-Webb University. She is a mother of three adult children, a pastor, a writer, and a teacher who spends most of her spare time walking her dog in the woods of the Blue Ridge mountains.

Feast gathers us to nurture our creative, caring, spiritual selves through our very presence. We will gather together at table to enjoy a beautifully prepared meal, feast through sermons and our voices in worship, and delight using our senses through a diverse worship experience. Come, enjoy and share the tastes of the day.
